Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi Delivers on Heartfelt Promises, Gifts Homes to Two Loyal Staff Members
In a heartfelt and impactful display of gratitude, Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP), Oscar Sudi, has kept his promises to two of his most loyal staff members by gifting them brand-new homes. The emotional gesture is a testament to his deep appreciation for their hard work, dedication, and unwavering loyalty over the years.
Sudi’s first recipient, Hermstone Makam, has been a part of his team for over a decade, starting from humble beginnings. The two met back in 2011, when Sudi was living in Nairobi. Hermstone, working as a laborer on a construction site along Riara Road, approached Sudi one day with a request to wash his car. Impressed by Hermstone’s hardworking nature and honesty, Sudi agreed. What followed was a relationship built on trust, integrity, and mutual respect. Hermstone proved himself to be not only diligent in his work but also a man of great character, always going above and beyond without asking for much in return.
"I saw in Hermstone a man who was willing to work hard, no matter the circumstances. His honesty and determination stood out to me," Sudi reflected. Over time, Sudi began to offer Hermstone more work, and the two developed a strong working relationship. Eventually, as Sudi moved to Kapseret to start a new chapter in his life, he invited Hermstone to join him and take care of his new property, even before construction on his home had begun.
The compound where Sudi had settled was remote, with no electricity and limited resources. But despite the harsh conditions, Hermstone never complained. He tended to the land, planted flowers, and kept the area well-maintained, always working with a sense of pride and dedication.
As Sudi began building his home in the area, Hermstone’s loyalty was unwavering. “It wasn’t an easy place to live, and there was a lot of work to be done. But Hermstone didn’t mind. He was always ready to lend a hand, doing everything from gardening to cleaning, never expecting anything in return,” said Sudi.
It was this dedication that moved Sudi to make a promise to Hermstone years ago – a promise that he would one day help him secure his own home. Fast forward to today, and that promise has been fulfilled. Sudi handed over the keys to a brand-new, fully furnished 3-bedroom house to Hermstone, marking a milestone in their long-standing relationship.
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude,” Hermstone said, fighting back tears as he received the keys to his new home. “This is a dream come true. I’ve worked for many years, but I never imagined something like this would happen. I will forever be thankful to Oscar for believing in me.”
In an emotional turn of events, Sudi’s second act of kindness was also the fulfillment of a promise made to a grieving mother. Earlier this year, in February, Peninah Manyara, affectionately known as Mama Mungai, lost her son, a young and talented IT professional working at one of Sudi’s businesses in Eldoret. His sudden death left Mama Mungai devastated, not only by the loss of her child but also by the loss of the financial support he had provided for her and her family.
The loss struck a chord with Sudi, who, witnessing the pain of Mama Mungai, promised at the burial to help her rebuild her life. “I saw the pain of a mother losing her child, especially a child who had been her support. It touched me deeply. I made a promise that I would help her and her children in any way I could,” Sudi explained.
True to his word, ten months later, Sudi presented Mama Mungai with a new home – a 3-bedroom house in Lemook, Kapseret, far from the crowded and noisy area of Langas where she had previously lived. “This new home is not just a house; it’s a new beginning for me and my children,” Mama Mungai said, visibly overcome with emotion. “Oscar has shown me that there is kindness and hope in this world. I can’t thank him enough.”
The handover ceremony, which took place on the same day as Hermstone’s, was filled with heartfelt speeches, tears, and expressions of gratitude. Mama Mungai, who had faced unimaginable hardship, now had the opportunity to start anew in a place that would offer her peace and security. “Oscar has not only helped me with a house, but he has also given me back my dignity and hope for the future,” she said.
Both Hermstone and Mama Mungai expressed deep appreciation for Sudi’s actions, acknowledging that his support had gone far beyond financial assistance – it had given them both a sense of stability and peace of mind.
In a speech during the house handover ceremony, Sudi reflected on the significance of his promises and the powerful bonds that had been forged over the years. “These are not just employees or staff members to me. They are family. I have watched Hermstone grow into a hardworking and trustworthy man, and I’ve seen Mama Mungai’s pain and grief. Today, I am honored to give them the homes they deserve, and to show them that loyalty, hard work, and love never go unnoticed.”
Sudi’s actions have not gone unnoticed by the local community, who have lauded him for his generosity and commitment to uplifting those around him. In a time when many leaders are criticized for failing to keep promises or support their communities, Sudi’s gesture has served as a powerful reminder of the importance of standing by one’s word.
“This is the kind of leadership we need in this country – leaders who not only talk but act. Oscar has proven that true leadership is about making a difference in people’s lives, especially those who are often overlooked,” said a local resident.
As Hermstone and Mama Mungai begin their new chapters in life, the ripple effects of Sudi’s kindness are sure to inspire others to look out for the people who support them, just as Sudi has done. For now, Hermstone will settle into his new home, tending to the land he has worked so tirelessly to maintain, while Mama Mungai, surrounded by her children, can begin to heal from the painful loss of her son.
Sudi’s words at the end of the ceremony summed up the essence of his actions: “When you build a home, it’s not just about the bricks and mortar. It’s about building a future, building trust, and building a community. Today, I’m proud to say I’ve helped build two families a better future.”
