Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule Champions Adult Literacy in Kilifi

Education has no age limit, and Kilifi County Deputy Governor H.E. Flora Mbetsa Chibule is leading by example. Today, she presided over the graduation of 87 women and youth who successfully completed the Adult Literacy Programme, a transformative initiative implemented by the Malindi Community Development Trust (MCDT).

The ceremony, held at ACK St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Malindi Diocese, brought together faith leaders, development partners, and community members to celebrate lifelong learning. The event was led by Bishop Reuben Katite, emphasizing the role of the church in promoting education and social development.

The programme, conducted in partnership with Five Talents Kenya, equips learners with essential literacy, numeracy, and entrepreneurship skills, alongside building self-confidence to enable them to engage meaningfully in social and economic life.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Governor Chibule emphasized that learning is a continuous journey. She noted that adult education is vital for empowering families, strengthening communities, and opening doors to economic independence. She also praised the ACK Church, MCDT, and their partners for their commitment to transforming lives through education, describing the initiative as a prime example of community-driven development.

Deputy Governor Chibule reaffirmed the Kilifi County Government’s dedication to supporting programmes that promote inclusion, uplift communities, and ensure no one is left behind in the county’s education and development agenda.
