University Staff Unions Sign Return-to-Work Formula, Marking End of Industrial Action

Kenya University Staff Union (KUSU) Secretary General Dr. Charles Mukhwaya has welcomed the signing of a Return-to-Work Formula between public universities and university staff unions, marking a significant step toward restoring normalcy in the higher education sector.

The agreement was signed this afternoon at the Ministry of Education’s Jogoo House B offices, in a ceremony witnessed by the Principal Secretary for Higher Education, Dr. Beatrice Muganda Inyangala.

The signing brings to an end the industrial action that had been called by the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU), the Kenya University Staff Union (KUSU), and the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals, and Allied Workers (KUDHEIHA).

Public universities are now set to resume normal operations, with appropriate measures being put in place to ensure students recover lost academic time.

Also in attendance was the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Basic Education, Prof. Julius Bitok.
