United Opposition Warns President Ruto Against Undermining Their Political Strength
By Ian Kiprotich
The United Opposition coalition has issued a stern warning to President William Ruto against dismissing their political influence, following his recent remarks suggesting that the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga remains his only serious challenger ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on Sunday during a joint press briefing, coalition leaders vowed to mount a formidable challenge in the upcoming November 27 by-elections, promising to outmatch both the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidates in all contested seats.
“President Ruto should not make the mistake of underestimating us. The United Opposition is more united and determined than ever before. We will prove our strength at the ballot,” one of the coalition leaders declared.
In a bid to consolidate their support base, the coalition announced that it will front single candidates in every by-election to avoid internal competition and vote splitting — a move they say will enhance their chances of victory.
“We have learned from past mistakes. This time, we are presenting one strong candidate in each race to ensure victory for the people’s movement,” another leader stated.
Meanwhile, presidential ally Farouk Kibet urged voters to rally behind UDA candidate Ndakwa, praising him for his dedication to service delivery that, he said, transcends political affiliations.
“Ndakwa has proven that leadership is about results, not party colors. We ask the people to support him for continued development,” Kibet said.
The November 27 by-elections are expected to serve as a key test of political strength for both the ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the emerging United Opposition, as parties position themselves for the 2027 polls.
