Tourism CS Rebecca Miano, EGH, Lauds New Partnership to Boost Hospitality Training

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, EGH, has welcomed a new strategic partnership between the Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas (MIOG) and the Boma International Hospitality College (BIHC), terming it a major boost to Kenya’s ambition of building a world-class hospitality workforce.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, CS Miano said the agreement represents more than a routine collaboration, noting that it signals the beginning of an accelerated drive to raise training standards and enhance professionalism across the sector.

“As the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, we champion standardised training, co-created curricula, and rigorous certification processes to elevate excellence in all hospitality establishments,” she said.

She added that the partnership will strengthen the capacity of trainers, ensure industry-relevant skills, and open clear career pathways for trainees, including internships, mentorship, employment opportunities, and entrepreneurial ventures.

CS Miano urged hospitality industry stakeholders to support the upcoming graduates from the programme, saying they will play a significant role in sustaining Kenya’s tourism competitiveness.

“I congratulate both institutions as they embark on this journey. May this collaboration grow into a model centre of excellence that drives research, innovation, job linkages, and incubation for our graduates,” she said.

The initiative aligns with the ministry’s broader efforts to enhance service quality under the Magical Kenya banner.
