Three Nigerian Nationals Arrested in Kirinyaga Multi-Agency Cyber Fraud Raid
Kirinyaga County, Kenya – A multi-agency operation in Mwaliko Estate, Mwea town has led to the arrest of three Nigerian nationals suspected of operating an elaborate cyber fraud ring.
The suspects—Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwel—were apprehended following reports from alert members of the public who raised concerns over unusual late-night activities in a rented apartment.
During the raid, detectives recovered 21 mobile phones, 79 SIM cards, a Dell laptop, and numerous credit cards from different banks, pointing to the suspects’ involvement in sophisticated cybercrime activities.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the trio, who claim to be “running an online business,” entered Kenya illegally, with expired entry passes and no valid work permits. Authorities suspect that they may have links to cross-border cybercrime networks, and investigations are ongoing to unravel the full extent of their operations.
The suspects are currently in custody as multi-agency teams continue to trace their networks and potential victims, while the public has been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious online activities.
This incident underscores Kenya’s growing commitment to tackling cybercrime and protecting citizens from increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes.
