Mombasa Woman Representative Zamzam Mohamed Nears Completion of Africa’s Largest GBV Centre in Mwakirunge

Mombasa Woman Representative Hon. Zamzam Mohamed today visited the site of the ongoing construction of what is set to become the largest Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Centre in Africa, located in Mwakirunge under Ngaaf.

Hon. Mohamed revealed that the project is now 98% complete and will soon be officially launched. Once operational, the centre will provide vital services to women and men who are victims of GBV, offering a safe space for care, support, and rehabilitation.

The Mombasa Woman Representative expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Poland Aid, the key partner supporting the implementation and operations of the centre. "This project is a milestone for Mombasa and Kenya as a whole. It reflects our commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of survivors of gender-based violence," she said during the visit.

The centre, once fully operational, is expected to set a benchmark in GBV response and support services in the region, combining counseling, legal aid, medical assistance, and community outreach programs under one roof.

Hon. Mohamed concluded her visit by assuring the public that the centre will soon be open to all victims seeking assistance and called for continued community support in the fight against gender-based violence.
