Malava MP-elect David Ndakwa Pledges to Complete Ongoing Projects

Malava MP-elect David Ndakwa has promised to prioritise the completion of ongoing development projects initiated by the late Malulu Injendi, stressing continuity and safeguarding the constituency’s progress before launching new initiatives.

Speaking shortly after receiving his certificate of election, Ndakwa said his tenure would be guided by the principle of continuity. “I will ensure that all ongoing development projects are completed before launching new ones,” he said, adding that preserving Malulu’s legacy is a key responsibility for him.

Ndakwa emerged victorious in the tightly contested by-election, securing 21,564 votes against DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako, who garnered 20,210 votes. The win reflects a narrow margin but a strong mandate from Malava residents who turned out to vote despite a few isolated incidents during polling.

Expressing gratitude to President William Ruto and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Ndakwa acknowledged the party’s confidence in his leadership. He also thanked his family, campaign team, and supporters for their unwavering support throughout the campaign.

The MP-elect commended the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for conducting a credible and transparent election. He also praised security agencies for maintaining order, allowing residents to cast their votes peacefully.

Ndakwa used the occasion to call for unity among Malava residents. “Malava is one, and I will work to ensure that no one is left behind,” he said. He appealed to political opponents, including those who supported him after conceding during party nominations, to collaborate for the constituency’s development. He singled out Ryan Injendi, the late Malulu’s son, for supporting him during the party primaries.

“There is only one leader at a time. Today it’s me; tomorrow it could be someone else. Our focus should be the welfare of the people,” Ndakwa added, emphasising inclusivity and collective responsibility.

He also acknowledged the media for providing fair coverage during the campaign, which he said contributed to a peaceful and transparent electoral process.

Malava was among 22 constituencies nationwide that held by-elections on Thursday. In addition to the Malava seat, UDA secured key positions, including the Baringo Senatorial seat and parliamentary seats in Mbeere North and Banisa constituencies, further consolidating the party’s influence in several regions.

Ndakwa’s victory marks a new chapter for Malava, with residents looking forward to continuity in development projects and a leadership focused on the welfare of all constituents.
