Kenya Strengthens Tourism and Wildlife Digitization Through Collaboration With Chinese Infrastructure Giant

 

Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, this morning hosted Mr. Zhang Bingnan, President of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), and its subsidiary China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), in a high-level meeting aimed at deepening cooperation in Kenya’s tourism and wildlife sectors. The meeting was also attended by State Department for Wildlife Principal Secretary, Silvia Museiya.

Discussions centered on strengthening existing partnerships to support Kenya’s development agenda through advanced digitization, enhanced wildlife conservation, and improved tourism infrastructure. With Kenya recently ranked fourth in Africa for digitizing its tourism sector, the Ministry highlighted the country’s strong foundation for expanding technology-driven solutions.

CS Miano emphasized that the government aims to create a strategic integration of conservation and digital innovation—ranging from modern park management systems and real-time anti-poaching surveillance to enhanced visitor experiences and data-driven tourism marketing.

CRBC’s long-standing presence in Kenya has contributed significantly to local employment, generating more than 2,600 jobs for Kenyans through various infrastructure projects. According to the Ministry, this reflects how public-private partnerships can propel President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which prioritizes job creation and grassroots economic empowerment.

CS Miano noted that the collaboration with CCCC and CRBC marks a major step toward building a more inclusive, sustainable, and technologically advanced future for Kenya’s globally renowned tourism and wildlife sector.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife is committed to ensuring that such partnerships continue to create opportunities for our people while safeguarding our natural heritage,” she said.
