Kato, a 43-year-old man from Kampala, Uganda, had spent the majority of his adult life battling a relentless addiction to alcohol. For over two decades, the addiction controlled his life. His days were consumed by drinking, and his nights were filled with regret. Despite knowing that his life was spiraling out of control, Kato felt powerless to stop. His addiction caused him to lose his job, alienated him from his family, and led him down a path of self-destruction. He became a shadow of the person he once was, lost in a fog of alcohol that numbed his pain but never offered a real solution.

For many years, Kato tried everything he could think of to escape the grip of his addiction. He visited rehabilitation centers, attended counseling sessions, and tried self-help books, but nothing seemed to work. Each time he thought he had beaten the addiction, he would relapse, slipping back into the same destructive habits. The shame and guilt weighed heavily on him, but the cycle continued.
