Renewing Hope Through Luvesrosk Restocking in Marasabir County
Principal Secretary, State Department for ASALs and Regional Development, Mr. Kello Harsama, continues to exemplify exceptional leadership and commitment to uplifting Kenya’s arid and semi-arid regions.
In the vast, arid lands of Marsabit County, camels remain the heartbeat of survival—providing food, income, and transport, while symbolizing strength and resilience in the face of climate change. For many pastoral families, a camel is not merely livestock; it represents wealth, pride, and the promise of tomorrow.
In line with the directive of H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto, the State Department for ASALs and Regional Development, through the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA), continues to implement the Livestock Restocking Programme—an initiative aimed at rebuilding livelihoods and restoring hope among drought-affected communities.
Today, in Kargi, Marsabit County, I had the honour of leading the distribution of 100 camels to carefully selected vulnerable households. This gesture goes beyond livestock—it represents renewed dignity, restored livelihoods, and strengthened resilience among our pastoral people.
The event brought together leaders and the community in a shared spirit of hope and collaboration, including Hon. Joseph Lekuton (MP, Laisamis), Hon. Chris Ogom (MCA, Kargi), Hon. Lucy Kargiya (Nominated MCA), Mr. Guyo Golisha (NDMA County Coordinator), among other leaders.
May God continue to bless Principal Secretary Kello Harsama for his magnanimous service and dedication to transforming lives across the ASAL regions.
