Communication Workers Union Secretary General Benson Okwaro has declared that postal employees across the country will not relent in their fight for justice.
Speaking after officially launching the nationwide strike involving more than 2,000 postal workers, Okwaro decried the government’s failure to pay workers for over six months, saying the situation has left many families in distress.
“We will not give up until our cries are heard and every shilling owed to our members is paid in full,” he said.
The union has vowed to sustain the industrial action until all pending dues are settled.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Communication Workers Union of Kenya (COWU-K)
Date: October 27, 2025
Subject: Nationwide Strike by Postal Workers Over Unpaid Salaries
The Communication Workers Union of Kenya (COWU-K) wishes to inform the public and all relevant authorities that postal workers across the country have today commenced a nationwide strike to protest the continued non-payment of their salaries for over six (6) months.
Speaking during the official launch of the industrial action, the Union’s Secretary General, Comrade Benson Okwaro, reaffirmed the workers’ resolve to fight for their rights and dignity.
“We will not relent. Our members have gone for more than half a year without pay, and their families are suffering. We shall not give up until our cries are heard and all dues are paid in full,” stated Comrade Okwaro.
The Union condemns in the strongest terms the blatant disregard for workers’ welfare and calls upon the relevant authorities to address this matter with the urgency it deserves. We urge all members to remain united and steadfast until justice is achieved.
