NYOTA Validation Exercise Kicks Off in Kapsowar: Empowering Youth Through Entrepreneurship
The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) validation exercise officially kicked off this morning at the Deputy County Commissioner’s office in Kapsowar, marking a significant milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to empower young entrepreneurs across the country.
Marakwet West Member of Parliament, Hon. Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich, lauded the initiative as a transformative step toward addressing youth unemployment, one of Kenya’s most pressing challenges.
“This program is a game-changer for our youth. It offers real opportunities for self-employment and innovation,” said Hon. Toroitich. “We are grateful to His Excellency the President for prioritizing young people and ensuring that the process remains free, fair, and transparent.”
Under the NYOTA program, 70 young entrepreneurs from each ward will receive KES 50,000 each as start-up or expansion capital for their businesses. The funds are aimed at stimulating local enterprise, reducing dependency, and promoting economic growth at the grassroots level.
Hon. Toroitich emphasized that empowering youth through entrepreneurship will not only improve livelihoods but also strengthen community resilience.
“Youth unemployment remains a major concern in our nation. Programs like NYOTA provide hope and tangible support to our young people. To God be the glory for this milestone,” he added.
The validation exercise ensures that all beneficiaries meet the set criteria before funds are disbursed, reinforcing the government’s commitment to accountability and transparency.
The NYOTA initiative continues to inspire optimism among young Kenyans, promising a future where innovation, hard work, and opportunity drive national progress.
