The Member of Parliament for Mwea Constituency, Hon. Mary Maingi, has reaffirmed her steadfast commitment to youth empowerment, social cohesion, and community transformation through the official launch of the Mary Maingi Football Tournament – Season Four.


Now a flagship event in Mwea’s sporting calendar, the tournament continues to stand as a beacon of grassroots development, nurturing local talent while fostering unity and purpose among the constituency’s youth. This year’s edition, aptly themed “Bigger, Bolder, and Better,” is poised to elevate the tournament’s legacy by amplifying participation, competitiveness, and community engagement across all wards.


Addressing residents during the announcement, Hon. Maingi expressed her profound optimism for the event’s continued success, emphasizing that sport remains a formidable vehicle for youth empowerment and social transformation. She noted that the tournament not only discovers and refines athletic potential but also cultivates discipline, teamwork, and leadership  virtues essential for both personal and national progress.

The first fixtures will kick off in Wamumu Ward, with thrilling encounters including Kiandegwa Maradona vs Irrigation FC at 8:00 AM, Mwea Naivas vs Ngang’a Rising at 10:00 AM, Naivas vs Matithini at 12 Noon, and Kiandegwa vs Sparks Rurii at 4:00 PM. The matches are expected to draw large crowds as residents converge to support their teams and showcase the vibrant sporting spirit that defines Mwea.


Hon. Maingi further underscored that sports, when strategically harnessed, serve as a vital instrument for peace-building, social inclusion, and economic empowerment. She affirmed her unwavering resolve to continue investing in youth-driven initiatives that strengthen the constituency’s social fabric while opening new avenues for prosperity.
