Hon. Karambu Kailemia Takes Lead in Meru County Woman Representative Race — Mizani Poll

Hon. Karambu Kailemia has emerged as the leading candidate in the Meru County Woman Representative race, according to a new Mizani Africa opinion poll released on October 2, 2025. The poll positions her as the frontrunner in what is quickly becoming one of the most closely watched contests in the county.

According to the survey findings, 35.5% of respondents indicated they would vote for Hon. Kailemia if elections were held today. Her strong showing places her ahead of her nearest challenger, Florence Kajuju, who garnered 27.6%, followed by Felicity Biriri with 22.1%. Other candidates trailed behind, with Edith Mwirigi receiving 4.7%, and 1.2% indicating support for other aspirants. Importantly, 8.9% of voters said they were still undecided — a segment that could prove decisive in the final tally.

Grassroots Strength and Policy Focus Driving Support

Analysts attribute Hon. Kailemia’s rising popularity to her deep-rooted presence at the grassroots level and her relentless advocacy on issues affecting women, youth, and marginalized communities. Her campaign has emphasized gender equality, educational empowerment, and inclusive development, themes that have resonated widely across both rural and urban constituencies.

“Hon. Kailemia has demonstrated consistent engagement with the people,” said political analyst Muriithi Thuranira. “Her ability to connect across demographics — from women groups in Tigania to youth networks in Imenti — gives her a clear advantage.”

Observers also noted her effective mobilization strategy, visibility in community events, and her reputation as a results-oriented leader as key drivers of her momentum.

While the poll suggests a solid lead, the data also highlights the volatile nature of the race, with nearly 9% of voters yet to make up their minds. Experts caution that this undecided bloc remains critical and could potentially swing the outcome, especially as rival candidates intensify their campaigns in the coming weeks.

Florence Kajuju, a seasoned political figure, still commands a significant support base, and Felicity Biriri’s growing visibility on youth and technology platforms may also shift dynamics as election day approaches.

Despite the uncertainties, Hon. Kailemia’s campaign is projected to capitalize on the current momentum, with plans to scale up voter engagement across all nine sub-counties in Meru.
