Hon. Ann Wamuratha Champions Digital Empowerment and Community Development in Kiambaa
Kiambu Woman Representative Hon. Ann Wamuratha has reaffirmed her commitment to grassroots empowerment through a comprehensive **Public Participation and NGAAF Empowerment Program held at Wangunyu, Ndenderu Ward in Kiambaa Constituency.
The meeting brought together hundreds of residents in a participatory forum focused on the proposed transformation of the local rehabilitation centre into a **modern resource centre and ICT hub**. Once completed, the facility is expected to offer digital skills training, innovation support, and entrepreneurship incubation for youth across the constituency.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Wamuratha emphasized the importance of digital inclusion as a pathway to economic empowerment and community transformation.
> “We envision a space where our young people can learn, innovate, and connect with the world. Empowering them with technology is key to unlocking opportunities and building sustainable livelihoods,” she said.
In line with her empowerment agenda, the Woman Representative also distributed essential equipment and materials to support various community groups and small enterprises, including:
* A **tent and 100 chairs** to *Kimuri kia Wangunyu Welfare Group* for community activities and welfare initiatives.
* **Shaving machines** to promote self-employment among young barbers.
* **Hair dryers and blow dryers** to boost local salon businesses.
* **UV machines** to enhance services for beauticians and nail technicians.
* **Sanitary towels** to girls at *Wangunyu Primary School* and *St. Angela’s Girls*, supporting menstrual health and ensuring uninterrupted learning.
The event also featured a communal meal shared among participants, reflecting the spirit of solidarity and inclusivity that underpins Hon. Wamuratha’s leadership.
She reaffirmed her office’s unwavering focus on empowering women, youth, and persons with disabilities through practical, sustainable programs.
