Governor Natembeya Endorses Hon. Eric Wekesa for Kabuchai-Chwele MCA Seat
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has officially endorsed Hon. Eric Wekesa as the preferred candidate for the upcoming Kabuchai-Chwele Ward by-election in Bungoma County.
Speaking after hosting Hon. Wekesa at his office on Friday morning, Governor Natembeya described the meeting as both cordial and constructive, noting that the discussions focused on issues of leadership, service delivery, and the need for committed representation at the grassroots level.
Present during the meeting was Mr. Fred Wetang’ula, a respected political figure and community leader, whose presence further underlined the significance of the engagement.
“I was pleased to host Hon. Eric Wekesa in the company of Mr. Fred Wetang’ula. Our conversation was grounded in the shared values of integrity, service, and community development,” said Governor Natembeya. “After a candid and fruitful discussion, I officially declared Hon. Wekesa as our preferred candidate for the Kabuchai-Chwele MCA seat.”
The Governor expressed confidence in Hon. Wekesa’s ability to deliver effective representation and champion the aspirations of the people of Kabuchai-Chwele. He highlighted the aspirant’s leadership qualities, community involvement, and track record of advocacy on matters of local development.
“Hon. Wekesa has demonstrated a deep commitment to the people of Kabuchai-Chwele. He understands their needs and has the energy, vision, and integrity required to lead. I wish him great success as he embarks on this important journey,” Governor Natembeya added.
The endorsement is expected to bolster Hon. Wekesa’s campaign in the lead-up to the by-election, positioning him as a strong contender with broad-based support from influential leaders and community stakeholders.
Governor Natembeya also emphasized the importance of electing leaders who are development-focused and people-driven, noting that the era of politics without impact must come to an end.
“As leaders, we must unite around individuals who prioritize the well-being of our citizens and who understand that leadership is a call to serve, not to be served,” he said.
The Kabuchai-Chwele by-election is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, following the declaration of a vacancy by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). The seat fell vacant after the previous holder exited under circumstances outlined by electoral guidelines.
