Gender PS Ann Wangombe Leads NYOTA Business Support Validation Exercise in Nyeri County
The Principal Secretary, State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action, Ms. Ann Wangombe, today led the registration and physical validation exercise for the NYOTA Programme – Business Support Component in Nyeri County.
The exercise was successfully coordinated in partnership with the County Commissioner’s Office, the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), the Youth Office, and other Government agencies.
Nyeri County recorded a total of 11,670 applications, with 4,334 applicants turning up for physical validation. The process is aimed at confirming the eligibility of applicants for the Kshs. 50,000 start-up grant, which seeks to empower young people to start and scale their businesses, driving local innovation, productivity, and job creation.
PS Wangombe commended the strong turnout and enthusiasm demonstrated by Nyeri youth, noting that their active participation reflects the spirit of enterprise, resilience, and hope that defines Kenya’s next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders.
“The NYOTA Programme is about more than financial support—it is about unlocking potential, creating pathways for self-reliance, and investing in the future of our youth,” she said.
The NYOTA Programme continues to roll out nationwide under the Business Support Component, which targets 100,000 verified youth beneficiaries across all 290 constituencies. Each successful applicant will receive a Kshs. 50,000 grant to support their entrepreneurial ventures.
