French Ambassador Joins Beyond Olympics Event in Kamariny to Champion Health and Unity

 

 

 More than 800 residents gathered at Kamariny on Saturday for the Beyond Olympics event, a community-driven initiative promoting health, wellness, and cultural exchange.

The event was graced by the Ambassador of France to Kenya, His Excellency Arnaud Suquet, alongside renowned athlete Joan Chelimo and the Miremas team. Together, they engaged with the community in a day filled with medical activities, cultural showcases, and messages of unity.

Speaking during the event, organisers emphasized that Beyond Olympics seeks to extend the spirit of sportsmanship beyond the track — fostering compassion, awareness, and empowerment among local communities.

“Humanity runs on the courage to care, the will to uplift, and the hope that together, we can change lives,” said award-winning teacher Shokwei Barsulai, one of the hosts of the event.

A key highlight of the day was the strong turnout of women participating in breast and cervical cancer screening, reflecting growing awareness of preventive health and the importance of early detection in rural areas.

Ambassador Suquet commended the initiative, noting that such partnerships between Kenya and France strengthen people-to-people connections and create positive social impact beyond athletic competition.

The Beyond Olympics event concluded with a call for continued community involvement in promoting health and protecting vulnerable groups, especially children.

“Nawapenda sana. Pamoja tuwalinde watoto,” Barsulai said in her closing remarks — Let us protect our children together.
