Environmentalist Dr. Isaac Kalua Green has called on Kenyans to plant trees across the country in honour of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, describing it as a fitting tribute to his legacy.
Speaking during a tree-planting exercise at Citam Athi River Church, Dr. Kalua led the planting of 80 trees, each representing a year Raila lived.
“Let every Kenyan plant a tree in memory of Raila Odinga. It is the best way to honour a man who dedicated his life to building this nation,” said Dr. Kalua.
He added that the initiative not only celebrates Raila’s life but also supports the country’s environmental goals.
“Raila stood for progress and sustainability. By planting trees, we continue his dream of a better, greener Kenya,” he said.
Dr. Kalua encouraged communities, institutions, and individuals to embrace tree planting as a lasting symbol of remembrance and national unity.
The late Raila Odinga, a veteran opposition leader and former Prime Minister, passed away recently, prompting nationwide tributes celebrating his contribution to democracy and development.
