Vincent Kiprono Chemitei has emerged victorious in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations for the upcoming Baringo senatorial by-election, securing the party’s ticket after a competitive race.
Chemitei, who has been actively involved in grassroots politics and development initiatives in Baringo, garnered strong support across the county, positioning himself as the party’s choice to defend the seat in the by-election.
Speaking shortly after being declared the winner, Chemitei thanked UDA members for their confidence and pledged to champion the interests of the people of Baringo.
“I am deeply humbled by this victory. I assure the people of Baringo that I will be their servant, bringing accountability, development, and unity. This is not my win alone, but a win for all of us,” he said.
He further extended an olive branch to his fellow aspirants, urging them to rally behind him in preparation for the by-election.
“To my brothers and sisters who competed alongside me, this is not the end. Our journey continues, and I welcome you to walk with me so that we can deliver for our county under the UDA banner,” Chemitei added.
Observers have noted that Chemitei’s win sets the stage for a high-stakes contest in the by-election, as he will now face off with candidates from other political parties who are eyeing the senatorial seat.
UDA party officials congratulated all aspirants who participated in the nominations, terming the exercise as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to democracy and transparency.
