Eldoret National Polytechnic Showcases Innovative Chicken Feed at Agri-Business Expo
The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) Applied Research Team is proudly participating in the 18th Agri-Business Trade Fair Expo at the University of Eldoret, showcasing a groundbreaking chicken feed formula developed under the institution’s research initiatives.
The innovative feed formulation replaces conventional ingredients with pearl millet as an alternative carbohydrate source and black soldier fly (BSF) larvae as a sustainable protein substitute. This research-driven approach aims to enhance poultry nutrition while reducing feed costs and promoting the use of locally available, climate-resilient resources.
According to the Applied Research Team, the new formula aligns with the growing need for sustainable and affordable agricultural solutions, especially for smallholder farmers facing rising input costs and changing climatic conditions.
“Our focus is to provide farmers with practical, research-backed alternatives that not only boost productivity but also contribute to environmental sustainability,” said a spokesperson from the TENP Applied Research Team.
The team’s exhibit has drawn attention from farmers, students, and agribusiness stakeholders interested in adopting cost-effective, nutritious, and eco-friendly poultry feed solutions.
The Agri-Business Trade Fair Expo continues to serve as a vital platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and collaboration among agricultural institutions and industry players.
