Dramatic scene after man who once died resurfaces, says he has been working in Nairobi

 

Residents of Kiamuringa village in Embu County were left in disbelief on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, after a man they buried two years ago walked back into his family’s compound alive and well.

Neighbours gathered in large numbers, some whispering prayers, others holding their mouths in shock, as forty-year-old Daniel Muriuki calmly greeted relatives who had believed they had mourned and buried him in 2023.

According to the family, Muriuki had been involved in a grisly road accident along the Embu–Meru highway in May 2023. The police had called them to identify a body found near the scene, saying it matched his description. Devastated, the family confirmed the identity, and burial arrangements were made within a week.

His younger brother, Peter, said the family never truly found peace after the incident. “Something about his death didn’t feel right,” Peter recalled. “It was too sudden, and we couldn’t shake off the feeling that there was more to the story.”
