Police Arrest Suspect in Kamulu with Over 5,600 Rolls of Bhang as War on Drugs Intensifies

Police in Nairobi have arrested a suspect in Kamulu, Ruai Sub-County, in connection with drug trafficking, seizing a large consignment of cannabis sativa during a targeted operation conducted on Monday.

According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS), the operation, carried out on July 1, 2025, led to the recovery of 5,660 rolls of bhang, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on narcotics within the Nairobi metropolitan area.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days.

“This arrest is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle drug networks and protect the public from the harmful impact of narcotics,” said the NPS in a statement.

The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected drug-related activities in their neighborhoods, emphasizing that involvement in the drug trade will be met with the full force of the law.

“The National Police Service warns the public against any involvement in drug trafficking and reiterates its unwavering commitment to combating narcotics and related criminal activities.”

The operation in Kamulu comes amid renewed efforts by law enforcement agencies to disrupt the supply and distribution of illegal substances across the country, particularly in urban and peri-urban areas.
