Oscar Sudi and Farouk Kibet Defended Amidst Allegations by Former Deputy President Gachagua

A storm of political controversy has erupted after allegations made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claimed that Hon. Oscar Sudi and Farouk Kibet, a close personal aide to President William Ruto, influenced the government to reduce funding for education due to their own academic backgrounds.

In a strong rebuttal issued today, Eldoret based Human Rights activist Kipkorir Ngetich  condemned Gachagua's remarks as "hypocritical, misleading, and dangerous." The statement emphasized that neither Sudi nor Kibet had any role in shaping or recommending cuts to education funding and labeled the accusations as a malicious campaign by Gachagua to tarnish the reputation of key pillars within President Ruto’s inner circle.

"The government of Kenya has not sanctioned any withdrawal of education funding. Like other global economies, including the United States, Kenya is adopting necessary economic adjustments to respond to global financial realities," Ngetich added

The rebuttal also questioned the logic of Gachagua's claims, drawing a comparison to previous administrations around the world: “Did President Trump take advice only from people with PhDs? Wisdom is not exclusive to the formally educated.” he said.

Gachagua was accused of targeting Sudi and Kibet as part of a vendetta after the two allegedly exposed what sources described as "sinister plans" the former deputy president harbored against President Ruto. It was alleged that while in office, Gachagua was involved in organizing and financing anti-government demonstrations, including mobilizing elements of the "Gen Z" protests.

“Were it not for the vigilance and intelligence of Oscar Sudi and Farouk Kibet, Kenya could have faced a crisis of unimaginable proportions,” Ngetich noted. It further credited the two with thwarting what it termed "catastrophic events" against the state, pointing to their long-standing roles in ensuring national stability.

Farouk Kibet and Hon. Oscar Sudi were praised for their deep grassroots experience and practical knowledge in governance. Their defenders argued that leadership and effective decision-making stem from a blend of academic knowledge and lived experience — both of which Sudi and Kibet possess in abundance.

"This notion that only those with degrees are fit to advise or lead is flawed. Many of the world’s most sophisticated crimes are orchestrated by elites with top-tier education. It is the wisdom gained from real-life experience that often brings unique insight and protection to leadership." Ngetich opined.

He gave  warning to Gachagua, accusing him of tribal politics and being a propagandist. It reaffirmed President Ruto’s commitment to education and the youth, stating unequivocally that the Head of State would never undermine the country’s future.

“We urge Oscar Sudi and Farouk Kibet to remain steadfast. Their loyalty and service to the President and the Republic are invaluable. Leadership requires collective wisdom — and in the spirit of the old adage, 'two heads are better than one,' the government must draw on wisdom from all walks of life.” he said .
