City Manager Leads Pre-Dawn Sanitation Tour to Champion Clean Eldoret Agenda

In a strong show of commitment to Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s Nguzo Kumi development blueprint, Eldoret City Manager Elzeba Busienei on Friday led a pre-dawn sanitation inspection across the city’s central business district to assess cleanliness and urban hygiene standards.

The tour, which began at the Uasin Gishu County Headquarters before sunrise, covered key urban spots including Eldoret Main Bus Terminus, Trucadero, Shakers, Nandi Park, Fims, Langas Stage, Jua Kali, Eastleigh, and Tagore Stage. The City Manager and her team inspected drainage systems, waste collection points, and public sanitation facilities while evaluating the performance of early-morning cleaning teams.

Addressing traders and residents during the walk-through, Busienei lauded sanitation staff who had reported for duty as early as 5 a.m. “This city’s future is rooted in how we care for it today,” she said. “A clean, organized city is not just about aesthetics; it is about attracting investment, promoting public health, and preserving the dignity of every resident. This is the spirit of Nguzo Kumi in action.”

She also announced plans to bolster sanitation operations by equipping teams with additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), modern refuse collection tools, and improved waste management infrastructure.

The inspection concluded at Central Bank Park, where Busienei reaffirmed Eldoret’s ambition to become a model city in Kenya, grounded in sustainable urban growth and civic responsibility.

The initiative was well received by residents, many of whom praised the city's leadership for prioritizing cleanliness and accountability. Since achieving city status in 2024, Eldoret has seen increased efforts to improve urban management and foster civic pride among its citizens.

This latest move signals a growing culture of proactive governance, with cleanliness emerging as a key pillar of the city's development agenda.
