KISE Signs Historic MoU with Meru University to Boost Inclusive Education

 


The Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) has marked a historic milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST), a partnership aimed at advancing inclusive education nationwide.


The agreement establishes collaboration in areas including research and innovation, teacher training, assistive technology development, early assessment and intervention, student practicum, and policy advocacy — all designed to promote accessibility and equity in education.


The signing ceremony was witnessed by KISE senior management led by Director General Norman Kiogora, alongside Deputy Director Programs Mr. Sanoe. MUST leadership, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. R. Odhiambo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Thuranira, Dean of Education Dr. Mercy Thuranira, University Registrar Dr. Stephen Karanja, and other faculty members, also attended, reflecting strong institutional commitment to the partnership.


Speaking after the event, Dr. Kiogora hailed the collaboration as transformative, noting that it will strengthen capacity building for teachers, expand research opportunities, and enhance the provision of assistive technologies for learners with special needs.
