Senator Cherargei Mourns Fr Samson Maritim

 




Nandi Senator Hon. Kiprotich Arap Cherargei has sent a heartfelt message of condolence following the untimely passing of Rev. Fr. Samson Maritim, a beloved priest of St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Chepterwai, under the Eldoret Catholic Diocese.

In his tribute, Senator Cherargei expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Fr. Maritim as not only a personal friend but also a devoted shepherd who faithfully served the spiritual needs of the Christian faithful across Nandi and beyond.

“My deepest condolences to the biological family, the Christians of St. Paul II Catholic Church, Chepterwai, Nandi County, and the entire Eldoret Catholic Diocese for the untimely demise of my friend Rev. Fr. Samson Maritim,” Senator Cherargei said in a statement issued late Sunday evening. 

“Mutyo missing bikap gaa,” he added in a message of comfort in the Kalenjin language, offering solace to the grieving community.

Senator Cherargei lauded Fr. Maritim’s unwavering commitment to pastoral work, community empowerment, and moral guidance, describing him as a pillar of hope and unity in the region.

“Fr. Samson’s service was marked by humility, compassion, and a deep love for God’s people. His voice in the pulpit, his counsel to the youth, and his tireless work in building a stronger, faith-driven society will be dearly missed,” the senator noted.

He urged the faithful and residents of Nandi to emulate the late priest’s legacy of peace, love, and service, assuring them of his solidarity during this difficult time.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may the Lord grant comfort to all who mourn him. Blessed night.”
