It all began with what seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I had long desired a position within the Kenya Prisons Service. One day, I was introduced to a man in Nyeri Town who presented himself as a senior prison warden. He wore a full uniform, had an official-looking badge, and spoke with authority and confidence.
