As the Kenya National Olympic Committee (NOCK) grapples with ongoing leadership challenges, a candidate for the position of First Vice President has issued a heartfelt appeal for unity and lawful resolution. The hopeful expressed disappointment that June 20, a date earmarked for new beginnings in Kenyan sports administration, instead witnessed continued legal battles and procedural delays.
“I had hoped June 20 would mark a fresh start for Kenyan sports leadership. Instead, we find ourselves once again stalled by legal wrangles and technicalities,” said the candidate, emphasizing the urgent need for a stable and transparent sports governance system.
Stressing that the issue transcends individual ambitions, the candidate declared, “Our athletes deserve better. This is not about personalities, it’s about protecting the integrity of our Olympic movement and ensuring that Kenya is ready to shine on the world stage, from the African Youth Games to Los Angeles 2028.”
The candidate, representing Team New Dawn, called for sobriety, open dialogue, and a lawful path forward, warning against political maneuvering that could hinder the progress and opportunities for Kenyan youth. “We cannot allow political gamesmanship to rob our youth of opportunity or to damage the systems we’ve fought to build,” they asserted.
Committed to principles of transparency, fairness, and inclusive leadership, the candidate reaffirmed the importance of reflecting the voices of all sports federations in decision-making processes. “This moment is bigger than any one of us. Let’s fix what is broken with dignity, unity, and the athletes at heart,” they concluded.
