Activist Kipkorir Ngetich Commends President’s Stand on Rule of Law, Calls for Protection of Youth and National Stability

Eldoret-based human rights advocate Kipkorir Ngetich has commended His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya for his unwavering commitment to upholding the Constitution, preserving national stability, and enforcing the rule of law equally across the country. Speaking ahead of planned nationwide demonstrations, Ngetich praised the President for standing in solidarity with Kenya’s security officers who have been on the frontline in maintaining peace and order.

"As a democratic society, Kenya cherishes the right of citizens to protest peacefully, as enshrined in Article 37 of our Constitution. However, this right must not be abused to perpetrate lawlessness, loot property, or harm security personnel," said Ngetich.

The activist raised concern over the recent trend where youth-led protests have been infiltrated by political elements with selfish agendas. According to Ngetich, these individuals are taking advantage of the frustrations of young people, manipulating them into engaging in acts of violence, often under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

“Our youths are our children, and while they must be heard and recognized, they should never be sacrificed on the altar of political expediency. It is unfortunate that some politicians are sponsoring young people to cause violence. We must not allow this to continue. The Government must act decisively to protect our children from being misused and endangered,” he stated.

Ngetich expressed support for the President’s firm warning to those promoting anarchy, stressing that the government must be ready to ensure national security at all costs. He warned that allowing chaos to reign in the capital would risk turning Kenya into a failed state.

He further called on the Inspector General of Police and the Ministry of Interior to uphold law and order during the anticipated demonstrations, urging them to ensure maximum peace and security in Nairobi and across the nation.

“Leadership should be about mentorship and guidance, not leading young people into destruction. The future of our nation hinges on how we nurture our youth. The issues facing them should be addressed through national dialogue, not street confrontations with police,” said Ngetich.

He urged the government to investigate and address the root causes behind the unrest and reaffirmed the need to guarantee the safety of young protesters. He also appealed to families who have lost loved ones during past demonstrations to come forward and engage with the relevant government agencies for support, as assured by the President and the Ministry of Interior.

“The intentions behind tomorrow’s demonstrations may have been noble, but they have already been hijacked. We must take a sober approach and ensure no more lives are lost and no further property is destroyed. Kenya must never give room to chaos,” he concluded.

Ngetich's remarks come at a critical time, as Kenya grapples with how best to balance democratic freedoms with national security amid rising tensions and growing public discontent.
