Soy MP David Kiplagat Warns Against Impersonators Soliciting Bribes Using Fake Accounts

Soy Member of Parliament, David Kiplagat, has issued a stern warning to the public regarding individuals using fake social media accounts to solicit bribes from unsuspecting Kenyans. The MP has urged citizens to report such incidents immediately to the nearest police station and to be cautious when interacting with online solicitations.

In a statement issued today, Kiplagat clarified that his official Facebook page is verified, with a significant following of over 133,000, and that any accounts purporting to represent him or solicit payments for services are fraudulent.

“I am deeply concerned about the growing number of impersonators who are using fake social media accounts to exploit innocent Kenyans. These individuals are posing as me and asking for bribes in exchange for favors, which is completely unacceptable,” said Kiplagat. “I urge all members of the public to be vigilant and report any such activities to the nearest police station. These actions are illegal, and we must not allow anyone to tarnish the integrity of our office.”

The MP emphasized that his official online presence is fully verified and that he does not engage in any form of bribery or unethical practices. He also assured his constituents that he remains committed to serving them with honesty and transparency.

Kiplagat also advised Kenyans to always double-check the authenticity of any social media accounts they interact with, particularly when requests for money or favors are involved. He reiterated that the only legitimate social media profile bearing his name is the verified account with the blue checkmark.

“My office operates with the highest level of integrity, and I do not condone or engage in any form of bribery. If anyone is contacted through these fake accounts, I implore you to report them and not to engage with these criminals in any way,” Kiplagat added.

The Soy MP’s statement comes as part of ongoing efforts to protect the public from fraudulent schemes that exploit the trust of well-meaning citizens. He called on both the authorities and social media platforms to step up efforts to crack down on fake accounts and online scams.
