Over 200 employees of Raiply Company have downed their tools in protest, demanding payment of their two-month salary arrears. The workers arrived at the company premises only to find the gates locked and were denied entry, sparking outrage and frustration among the staff.
Speaking to the press, spokesperson Flora Chebet revealed that the company had earlier issued a memorandum promising to pay salaries by the 2nd of each month, with a standard payday on the 29th. However, this promise has repeatedly been broken.
“We have suffered immensely, especially during these tough economic times. Many of our colleagues have passed on without receiving their retirement benefits. It’s a very sad state of affairs—we’ve worked for years without fair compensation,” Chebet lamented.
The workers claim Raiply owes them over KSh 40 million in salary arrears. They have vowed not to return to work until all pending payments are settled, insisting they will continue to fight for justice.
Adding to the mounting criticism, Hon. MCA for Kiplombe constituency condemned Raiply’s decision to open a new branch in Nzoia while neglecting its financial obligations to existing employees. He urged the company to prioritize the welfare of its workforce before expanding operations.
