Students at Eldoret National Polytechnic have once again showcased the strength of democratic engagement through peaceful and vibrant student council campaigns held across the institution.
The atmosphere on campus has been one of energy, dialogue, and mutual respect as aspiring student leaders presented their manifestos, engaged in debates, and connected with their peers on key issues affecting student life. From academic support and campus safety to enhanced extracurricular activities, candidates put forward a wide range of ideas aimed at improving the student experience.
Speaking on the sidelines of the campaigns, an official from the Students’ Affairs Office commended the candidates and their supporters for conducting themselves with maturity and responsibility.
“Today’s peaceful student council campaigns are a testament to our democratic values. Best wishes as you responsibly prepare to elect the leaders who will represent you with integrity and purpose,” the official said.
Student-led campaign rallies, poster displays, and open forums were held throughout the week in designated areas, allowing students to engage with candidates in a structured and respectful manner. The administration and Electoral Committee provided logistical support and maintained a neutral stance to ensure a fair and inclusive process.
Many students expressed appreciation for the opportunity to hear directly from candidates and raise concerns that matter most to them.
“These campaigns have helped us know who really understands our issues,” said Kevin Mutuku, a student in the Department of Engineering. “It’s not just about popularity; it’s about leadership and vision.”
The campaigns are scheduled to conclude ahead of the official voting day, which is set to take place later this week. Once elected, the new student council will represent the voice of the student body in matters ranging from academic policy to campus life and student welfare.
The Eldoret National Polytechnic leadership reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing student leadership, civic responsibility, and peaceful engagement as essential pillars of the institution’s culture.
