Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto’s administration, following reports of coordinated raids on the residences of Deputy President and Party Leader H.E. Rigathi Gachagua in Wamunyoro, Mathira, and Karen.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday evening, Malala accused the government of deploying state security agencies—including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), General Service Unit (GSU), the National Intelligence Service (NIS), and special forces—in what he termed an “illegal and politically motivated assault” on Gachagua.
“This evening, officers drawn from the DCI, GSU, NIS, and other special forces have raided and illegally occupied my Party Leader H.E. Rigathi Gachagua’s homes in Wamunyoro, Mathira, and even Karen—attempting to arrest him for only God knows what!” Malala said.
The former senator condemned the alleged raid as a gross misuse of Kenya’s disciplined forces, accusing the Ruto administration of using state machinery to silence dissent and intimidate political rivals.
“I take this earliest opportunity to strongly condemn the misuse of our disciplined forces to settle political scores by this failing Ruto regime,” he declared. “No amount of intimidation, intolerance, or dictatorship can stop the inevitable—Ruto's one-term reality. He must go, and go he will!”
Malala, a vocal critic of the President in recent months, framed the incident as part of a broader pattern of political persecution and state overreach under Ruto’s leadership. He called on Kenyans to remain vigilant and resist what he described as creeping authoritarianism.
The government has not officially commented on the alleged raids, and no formal charges or reasons for the action have been made public at the time of this report.
The dramatic escalation comes amid intensifying political divisions and speculation about deepening rifts within Kenya Kwanza’s top leadership. Observers say the unfolding situation could signal further instability in the coalition as the 2027 political landscape begins to take shape.
