Nairobi, Kenya – Hon. Philip Kipng’etich Muigei, the Speaker of Uasin Gishu County Assembly, has been elected as the Treasurer of the County Assemblies Forum (CAF) for the 2025–2027 term. His appointment was confirmed during the CAF's recent Executive Committee elections, where he was selected to represent the North Rift region. This role places him among the key national leaders advocating for the strengthening of devolution in Kenya.
At 34 years old, Speaker Muigei is one of the youngest to hold such a significant position in Kenya’s county assemblies. He was first elected Speaker of Uasin Gishu County Assembly in 2022, defeating his closest challenger, Nancy Sang. His leadership has been characterized by a focus on transparency, youth engagement, and environmental conservation.
In his new role as CAF Treasurer, Speaker Muigei will oversee the financial management of the Forum, which coordinates the legislative activities of all 47 county assemblies in Kenya. CAF's mandate includes promoting networking, intergovernmental relations, and best practices in legislative development.
Speaker Muigei's appointment is expected to enhance the Forum's financial stewardship and contribute to the advancement of devolution in Kenya.
