The family of the late Provincial Commissioner (PC) Isaiah Kiplangat Cheluget convened a press conference early Saturday to address the ongoing dispute surrounding a piece of land registered as L.R No. ILMOTIOK/CIS-MARA/54.
Led by Ambassador Nancy Cheluget, the family spokesperson, the Cheluget family expressed their desire to clarify the situation publicly and thanked government officials for their continued support in seeking a lasting resolution.
In her statement, Ambassador Cheluget noted that the late PC Cheluget had, on multiple occasions, sought a peaceful and amicable resolution from the government concerning the land in question. “Our late father pursued dialogue and justice in this matter until his final days. Sadly, he passed on before seeing its conclusion,” she said.
The family reported that they have held several meetings with key government stakeholders, including officials from the Office of the President, the Principal Secretary for Lands Nixon Korir, Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu, and the Director of Settlements.
They extended their gratitude to President William Samoei Ruto and Governor Ntutu for their “efforts, determination, and resolve” to ensure justice and rightful ownership are upheld.
In a further bid to settle any misconceptions, the family clarified that all legal matters concerning the succession and estate of the late Cheluget were conclusively settled in court. “The Kericho High Court issued a confirmation of grant on June 12, 2018, thereby settling the succession process,” Ambassador Cheluget stated.
The family reiterated their commitment to resolving the matter respectfully and in accordance with the law, urging all parties involved to honor the legal decisions already rendered.
