In a show of support for Kenya’s law enforcement officers, Twinstar Aviation today donated umbrellas to the National Police Service (NPS) to enhance officers’ comfort and effectiveness as they carry out their duties during the ongoing rainy season.
The donation ceremony took place at the NPS Headquarters, Jogoo House, where the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, officially received the items on behalf of the service. The umbrellas are intended to assist police officers on duty, particularly those stationed outdoors, in managing the unpredictable weather while continuing to serve the public.
IG Kanja thanked Twinstar Aviation for the thoughtful gesture and reaffirmed the NPS’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with partners from both the public and private sectors.
“We welcome this timely support and appreciate Twinstar Aviation’s recognition of the work our officers do in all weather conditions. Partnerships such as these are vital in helping us maintain a motivated and well-equipped police force,” IG Kanja stated.
The donation was led by Captain Richard Kubo Onyango, Chairman of Twinstar Aviation and a long-serving member of the Kenya Police Football Club’s Board. He was accompanied by Mr. Malkit Singh Main, Treasurer of the club’s Trustee Board.
Captain Onyango emphasized the company’s ongoing efforts to contribute to national development and support frontline workers. “Police officers play a critical role in keeping our communities safe. This small contribution is a token of appreciation for their service and a step toward ensuring their well-being on duty,” he said.
Also present at the ceremony were senior members of the police leadership, including Deputy Inspector General – Administration Police Service (DIG-APS), Mr. Gilbert Masengeli; Principal Deputy to the IG, Mr. Mathew Kutoh; and Director of Corporate Communications and NPS Spokesperson, Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, AIG.
The donation comes at a time when heavy rains have affected several parts of the country, with officers frequently exposed to the elements during traffic control, patrols, and public service duties.
This initiative is part of a broader drive to strengthen public-private partnerships in supporting national institutions and improving the working conditions of essential service providers.
