Arrest Gachagua Now, Demands Eldoret-Based Human Rights Activist Kipkorir Ngetich

Eldoret-based human rights activist Kipkorir Ngetich has come out guns blazing, calling for the immediate arrest of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over what he termed as "continuous reckless, inciteful, and dangerous statements" that threaten Kenya's peace and national cohesion.

Speaking during a press briefing on Sunday, Ngetich strongly condemned Gachagua’s repeated attacks on President William Ruto, warning that his inflammatory rhetoric was a calculated effort to destabilize the country and ignite ethnic tensions.

"Mr. Gachagua's consistent abuses and insults directed at the Head of State are not only shameful but a clear and present danger to our nation’s unity," said Ngetich. "Democracy does not grant anyone the license to incite chaos or push a tribal agenda that isolates regions and communities."

Referring to last year’s Gen Z-led protests, Ngetich said the country narrowly avoided disaster. “The events of last year were deeply regrettable. Kenya’s stability was hanging by a thread. If the government had been overthrown, Kenya might not have recovered,” he warned.

He accused Gachagua of using the Kikuyu community as a political shield for his divisive politics, likening his behavior to that of Adolf Hitler and other historical warmongers. “This man is not just undermining the presidency—he is weaponizing his tribe and musicians to set the country on a warpath. That’s treasonous and unacceptable.”

Ngetich warned that the government could no longer afford to sit idly by. “The security apparatus must act decisively and arrest Gachagua. His impunity cannot continue unchecked,” he declared.

He also called on retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to publicly clarify their positions on Gachagua’s political agenda. “Do they support this campaign of insults and incitement? The people of Kenya deserve to know.”

Drawing parallels with past Kenyan heroes such as G.G. Kariuki, Rev. Timothy Njoya, and Bishop David Gitari, Ngetich said Gachagua does not embody the patriotism and courage these figures demonstrated. “Unlike those leaders, Gachagua thrives on tribal rhetoric and sabotage.”

In his scathing address, Ngetich accused the former DP of attempting to undermine President Ruto during their time in office and of fostering rebellion within the government. “He acted more like a rebel than a deputy. He now seeks to take power through chaos, not ballots.”

Concluding his statement, Ngetich urged Kenyans to remain united and resist all forms of tribal division. “This country has survived political turmoil, coups, and tribal violence. We cannot allow one man to drag us back. Kenya must come first.”

As political tensions continue to simmer in the Mt. Kenya region, Ngetich’s call underscores growing pressure on national security organs to rein in political leaders accused of incitement and tribalism. Whether action will follow remains to be seen.
