Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has expressed strong support for the recent political agreement between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, calling it a crucial step toward achieving national unity and long-term development. Speaking at the AIC Annex Fellowship Church in Eldoret, Lusaka praised the collaboration, emphasizing that a united government would lead to steady progress for Kenya.
“We fully endorse your decision to collaborate with ODM because unity is key to sustainable development,” Lusaka stated, further highlighting that the political pact represents a promising foundation for Kenya’s future. The governor's remarks came at a time when the country is working to overcome political divides and chart a path toward more inclusive governance.
Lusaka also underscored the significance of ensuring that all Kenyans feel represented in the administration. He commended President Ruto for fulfilling campaign promises through numerous development initiatives across the country, particularly in sectors like infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
In addition to his political comments, Lusaka expressed support for the newly introduced Social Health Authority (SHA) medical scheme, which aims to streamline healthcare delivery and make it more accessible to the general public. He dismissed criticisms of the scheme, pointing out that many of the critics had previously taken advantage of fraudulent practices within the now-defunct National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
“Some of the people criticizing SHA are those who benefited unfairly from the old NHIF system,” Lusaka remarked, stressing that the government is working diligently to address minor implementation challenges. While acknowledging that the rollout of the new system has faced some hurdles, he reassured Kenyans that the government is committed to improving its efficiency and effectiveness to ensure better healthcare for all.
The SHA scheme is part of President Ruto’s broader agenda to enhance healthcare accessibility, and Lusaka’s endorsement further solidifies support for the initiative across the country. With political unity and healthcare reform at the forefront, the Bungoma governor’s statements reflect the growing momentum behind the government’s vision for a more inclusive and prosperous Kenya.
