Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has offered a full scholarship to a Form Three student whose determination to remain in school moved him during a church fundraising event in Kipsamoo.

Sudi said the touching incident happened on Sunday, August 30, during the 22 Churches Fundraising Initiative harambee held at Kipsamoo Primary School, where Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki was present.

According to Sudi, a brave young girl identified as Rency Tirop made her way past security officers to reach the Deputy President.

Moved by her courage, Sudi said he decided to listen to the girl's story.

Rency is a Form Three student at St. Theresa’s Tartar Girls in West Pokot and had reportedly been sent home over school fees.

The student hails from Chepkong’ony Village in Kipsamoo, Ngeria Ward, and was raised by a single mother from a humble background.

Sudi said Rency's determination to pursue her education despite the financial challenges touched him, prompting him to intervene.

“Her determination to continue her education despite the challenges moved me,” Sudi said.

The Kapseret MP announced that he would take responsibility for Rency's full scholarship, ensuring that she remains in school until she completes her secondary education.

Sudi said the intervention is aimed at giving the young girl an opportunity to pursue her dreams despite the challenges facing her family.

The incident has sparked praise for Rency's courage to seek help directly from national leaders, while Sudi's decision has been welcomed as a boost to the student's education journey.

The gesture also comes amid continued calls for leaders and well-wishers to support vulnerable students facing challenges in paying school fees.
