Mwingi West MP Nguna to Commission Five Classrooms, Electricity Project in Misai

 Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna is set to commission five new classrooms and an electricity project at Misai Market on Monday as he leads a Meet the People tour of the area.

The projects are expected to boost education, improve security and support the growth of small businesses in Misai and surrounding areas.

Nguna will begin the tour by commissioning five new classrooms at Misai Comprehensive School, aimed at easing congestion and providing learners with a better environment for learning.

The additional facilities are expected to increase the school’s capacity and ease pressure on existing classrooms amid a growing pupil population.

The MP will thereafter commission an electricity project at Misai Market, a development expected to benefit traders, improve security and stimulate economic activity within the trading centre.

With reliable electricity, traders could extend their operating hours, while businesses requiring power are expected to benefit from improved access to essential infrastructure.

The commissioning ceremony, scheduled for 10am at Misai Market, is expected to bring together local leaders, school officials, parents, traders and residents.

The projects form part of a broader development programme in Mwingi West, with education, rural electrification, water and road infrastructure identified among key priorities.

Speaking ahead of the tour, Nguna said investment in basic infrastructure and education was essential to improving the livelihoods of residents.

“Education and access to electricity are fundamental pillars for community development. By investing in modern classrooms and powering our markets, we are securing the future of our children and empowering our traders,” he said.

The legislator said his development agenda was guided by the slogan “Wendi Wenyu Watho Wakwa” — “Your Business is My Business,” which he said reflected his commitment to addressing the needs and priorities of constituents.

Residents of Misai have welcomed the projects, saying the new classrooms will improve learning conditions while electricity at the market will create a safer and more vibrant trading environment.

The Meet the People tour will also give Nguna an opportunity to inspect ongoing projects, engage residents directly and gather feedback on emerging development priorities across the area.
