Lenku Fires Back at Metito, Kanchory as He Mobilises Kajiado Residents for Ruto Events

Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has urged residents of Kajiado County to turn out in large numbers for President William Ruto’s events in the county tomorrow, amid rising political tensions in the region.

Lenku called on “our people” to attend the President’s engagements, while taking a swipe at former Kajiado South MP Katoo Ole Metito and political strategist Memusi Kanchory.

“I urge all OUR PEOPLE to attend the President's events in Kajiado County tomorrow in large numbers,” Lenku said.

The governor accused Metito and Kanchory of attempting to create divisions between Kajiado residents and President Ruto.

“Katoo Ole Metito & Memusi Kanchory WILL NOT SUCCEED in bringing a wedge between OUR PEOPLE and OUR President like they tried to do on Thursday,” he added.

Lenku’s remarks come as political activity intensifies in Kajiado ahead of the 2027 General Election, with leaders increasingly taking positions on their preferred political alliances.

The governor’s call is expected to heighten interest in the President’s Kajiado tour, with political observers closely watching the reception Ruto receives from residents and local leaders.

The unfolding political contest has also placed Kajiado at the centre of wider discussions over the Maasai community’s political alignment and its relationship with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
