Former CS Najib Balala Breaks Silence Over Death Rumours: ‘I Am Well and in Good Spirits’

Former Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Najib Balala has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that he had died, assuring Kenyans, friends and colleagues that he is alive and well.

Balala said he was aware of the misleading information and described the reports as unfounded, while thanking the Almighty for protecting him.

“I am well and in good spirits. I am aware of the misleading information that has been circulating, but I want to assure everyone that it is unfounded,” Balala said.

The former Cabinet Minister also expressed gratitude to friends, colleagues and members of the public who reached out to check on his wellbeing following the circulation of the reports.

“I thank the Almighty for His mercy and protection. Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel,” he said.

Balala's clarification comes after unverified reports reportedly circulated online, prompting concern among people who know him and those who have followed his long career in public service.

His message sought to put the rumours to rest and reassure the public that he remains in good health and spirits.

The former Tourism Cabinet Secretary has had a long career in Kenyan public service and politics, including serving in the tourism docket where he played a prominent role in promoting Kenya as a global tourism destination.

Balala urged those concerned about the reports to disregard the misleading information, while appreciating the goodwill and concern expressed by his friends and professional colleagues.
