Eldoret Matatu SACCO Suspended as Passenger Complaints Trigger Route Shake-Up
Kipsinende Matatu SACCO, which operates along the Eldoret town–RVTTI–Kikorgot–Eldoret Annex route, has reportedly been suspended following a series of complaints from passengers.
According to reports, the suspension is linked to allegations of harassment and mistreatment of passengers by some drivers and conductors, alongside concerns over the condition of some vehicles operating under the SACCO.
The reported action has caused a shift in operations along the busy route, with Kipkabus SACCO said to have stepped in to serve passengers previously relying on Kipsinende vehicles.
Kipkabus is reportedly benefiting significantly from the development as more passengers turn to its vehicles for transport along the affected route.
The reported suspension has sparked renewed discussion about passenger safety, service standards and accountability within the public transport sector in Eldoret City.
Passengers have continued to call for matatu operators to maintain roadworthy vehicles and ensure that drivers and conductors treat commuters with respect and professionalism.
Authorities and relevant transport regulators are expected to provide further clarification on the reported suspension and the conditions under which Kipsinende SACCO could resume operations.
