CS Rebecca Miano Steps Up Kenya’s Tourism Diplomacy with UAE Travel Giants

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano EGH has stepped up Kenya’s efforts to deepen international tourism partnerships following high-level talks with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Dr. Salim Ibrahim Alnaqbi, and Mohamed Jassim Al Rais, Executive Director of Al Rais Travel Group.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Kenya and the UAE’s travel industry, with discussions expected to open new opportunities for tourism growth, investment and increased visitor arrivals from the Gulf region.

The engagement comes as Kenya seeks to position itself as a leading tourism destination by expanding its international market reach and forging strategic partnerships with major players in the global travel industry.

Al Rais Travel Group is a major travel industry player in the Middle East, and closer collaboration with the company could provide Kenya with opportunities to develop new tourism packages and enhance the country’s visibility among travellers from the Gulf and beyond.

The discussions also underline the growing importance of direct connections, premium tourism experiences and targeted destination marketing in expanding Kenya’s tourism earnings.

Under CS Miano’s leadership, the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife has continued to pursue international engagements aimed at attracting more visitors and investment into the sector while showcasing Kenya’s diverse tourism offering.

The UAE remains an important market for Kenya, offering significant potential for business, leisure, luxury and cultural tourism.

The latest engagement is therefore being viewed as part of broader efforts to strengthen Kenya’s tourism diplomacy and create partnerships capable of translating international relations into tangible economic opportunities.

With tourism playing a critical role in employment creation, foreign exchange earnings and local enterprise development, stronger links with global travel companies could provide new opportunities for Kenyan businesses and young people working across the tourism value chain.

The government has continued to market Kenya under the Magical Kenya brand, highlighting the country’s wildlife, beaches, hospitality, culture and diverse tourism experiences to international travellers.

The Miano-led engagement with UAE tourism stakeholders signals Kenya’s determination to expand beyond traditional tourism markets and tap into emerging opportunities in the Middle East.
