Maisha Foundation Expands Education and Athletics Support for Iten Learners

 Award-winning teacher and Kamariny Primary and Junior School Headteacher Shokwei V. Barsulai has praised the Maisha Foundation for its continued investment in education and athletics development among young learners in Iten.

Barsulai spoke after holding a meeting on behalf of the Maisha Foundation Iten (The Duma Blues), a programme that is providing education opportunities and talent development support to children in the region.

Through the programme, four students are fully sponsored through senior school at Kipsaos Boys, Kapsowar Boys, Ossen Girls and Kapkenda Girls. A further four students are receiving support in Junior School, giving the beneficiaries a valuable opportunity to pursue their education while developing their talents.

Barsulai said the initiative demonstrates the importance of combining education with athletics and other talent-development programmes in preparing children for a brighter future.

He expressed appreciation to the coaches, teachers and parents, as well as the Maisha Foundation CEOs, for their commitment to making the programme a success.

He noted that the impact of the programme would extend far beyond the present, saying investments made in young people today would help shape the communities of tomorrow.

“Few years from now, we will look back and be grateful that we chose to invest in these young lives. The seeds we plant today will shape the future we celebrate tomorrow,” he said.

The programme comes at a time when Iten and the wider Elgeyo Marakwet region continue to nurture young athletic talent, with education remaining a critical pillar in ensuring that children have opportunities both on the track and in the classroom.

Barsulai concluded by offering his blessings for the initiative and those behind it.
