Uasin Gishu Strengthens Diagnostic Services as County Hospital Expands Advanced Immunochemistry Testing

The Uasin Gishu County Government has stepped up efforts to improve healthcare delivery by strengthening laboratory diagnostic services at Uasin Gishu County Hospital through enhanced collaboration between clinicians and laboratory professionals.

The initiative aligns with Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii's second development pillar, which prioritizes the modernization of healthcare services by investing in quality, accessible, and patient-centered laboratory systems.

As part of this commitment, the hospital held a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session focusing on immunochemistry test coverage and strengthening the clinical-laboratory interface to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.

The training brought together clinicians, nurses, laboratory officers, and other healthcare professionals to enhance coordination between clinical and laboratory departments, ensuring timely, accurate, and reliable diagnostic services.

Speaking during the session on behalf of Facility Medical Superintendent Dr. Simeon Rono, Caroline Chirchir said the hospital remains committed to expanding its diagnostic capacity to meet the growing healthcare needs of residents.

She revealed that the facility has prioritized the continuous supply of laboratory reagents while introducing additional immunochemistry tests to improve access to specialized laboratory services and minimize delays in diagnosis.

"The hospital is committed to ensuring uninterrupted laboratory services through adequate reagent supply and expanded immunochemistry testing, which will support better patient management and treatment outcomes," she said.

The CME also emphasized the importance of effective communication and teamwork between clinicians and laboratory personnel in maximizing the use of immunochemistry services and delivering quality healthcare.

Governor Bii's administration has identified laboratory services as a critical component of an efficient health system, recognizing that accurate and timely diagnostics are essential for early disease detection, informed clinical decision-making, and improved patient outcomes.

The session was attended by Director of Medical Services Evans Kiprotich, Director of Nursing Services Betty Chirchir, clinical officers, nurses, and laboratory officers, who reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening integrated healthcare services across Uasin Gishu County.
