Kindiki Warns No One Will Be Spared as 20 Suspects Arrested Over Political Violence

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has welcomed the arrest of 20 suspects linked to the latest incidents of political violence, warning that authorities will pursue everyone involved regardless of their political affiliation.

In a statement on Tuesday, Kindiki described the arrests as "a good start" in the government's crackdown on politically instigated violence, emphasizing that investigations will extend to those who planned, financed, incited, or facilitated the attacks.

"The arrest of 20 suspects linked to the latest wave of political violence is a good start. No one will be spared. Those aiding and abetting violence will be punished, regardless of who they support," the Deputy President said.

Kindiki's remarks come amid heightened political tensions following violent incidents reported in Kisumu and Nyahururu, where clashes left people dead, others injured, and property destroyed. Police have since launched investigations into the unrest and vowed to bring all those responsible to justice.

The National Police Service (NPS) has already arraigned several suspects in court over the incidents, reiterating that it will not tolerate hooliganism, political thuggery, or any acts that threaten public peace.

"The National Police Service will not tolerate violence, hooliganism, or any disruption of public peace. Those who choose chaos will be met with the full force of the law," the service said in a statement.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen also confirmed that more than 20 suspects had been arrested in connection with the violence and called on the Judiciary to impose appropriate penalties to deter future acts of political violence.

Murkomen said security agencies remain committed to dismantling criminal networks behind politically motivated attacks, adding that investigations are ongoing to identify additional suspects.
