'Kapsomok' No More: Rutto, Mandago, Kiplagat and PS Bitok Unite Ahead of 2027

Kesses MP Hon. CPA Julius Rutto has dismissed attempts to ridicule a section of Uasin Gishu leaders through the political label "Kapsomok," saying the group has instead grown stronger and is now working together to advance the county's development agenda.

Speaking at a public event, Rutto said he, Soy MP David Kiplagat, Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, and Principal Secretary Julius Kibet Bitok have embraced the label and remain united despite political criticism.

The legislator said the four leaders have formed a cohesive team focused on serving residents of Uasin Gishu rather than engaging in divisive politics.

"They branded us 'Kapsomok' to mock us, but today we are working together as one team. We have now been joined by Principal Secretary Julius Kibet Bitok, and our focus is the unity and development of Uasin Gishu County," Rutto said.

His remarks come amid growing political realignments in Uasin Gishu as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The county has witnessed increased political activity in recent months, with various leaders holding consultative meetings and public engagements amid speculation over future elective positions.

Although Rutto did not directly address the 2027 succession politics, his comments are likely to fuel debate over emerging alliances in the county, where Governor Jonathan Bii will complete his second and final term if re-elected in 2027, while other elective seats are also expected to attract intense competition.

Political observers view the public show of unity among Senator Mandago, MPs Julius Rutto and David Kiplagat, and Principal Secretary Julius Bitok as a significant development that could reshape political dynamics in Uasin Gishu as campaigns gradually begin to take shape.

Rutto maintained that the group's priority remains delivering development projects and ensuring leaders work together for the benefit of residents, urging supporters to reject divisive politics and focus on unity.
